Mestec US partner Romaric Automation selected by Trijicon to provide Mestec MES (Aug 2006)Mestec announced today that it’s US-based reseller Romaric Corporation has won a deal to implement the Mestec MES system at optical gun-sight manufacturer Trijicon in Michigan, USA upon one of its key product production lines. “Our main driver for buying the Mestec system was to eliminate paper on the shop-floor” states Brian Browe, Director of Operations at Trijicon. “We were spending over 110 hours per week managing our paper-based systems. Just do the math; the payback will be very quick!”
“We currently have a log sheet for every optic built. We’ve built over hundred and fifty thousand optics with plans to double that over the next few years. Without Mestec we would have a major paper management and storage problem,” continues Brian Browe. “In the short term, as well as eliminating the paper on the shop floor, we will have more detailed traceability and better visibility of our daily operations. In the long term, Mestec will give us a strong matrix of information to base important decisions and simplify the process of product recalls. The system will also reduce risk from natural disaster.”
When asked to comment upon the alternatives to Mestec, Brian Browe claimed “We couldn’t find a comparable system - Mestec is ideal for the weapons manufacturing industry. Its flexible and highly configurable architecture allowed us to implement the entire system, including integration to our Misys ERP system, in just 35 days!”

The factory is located on a five-acre site allowing the facility to expand again, rapidly if needed, to accommodate further growth. Trijicon has completed a spacious new addition to its Wixom, Michigan manufacturing facility which has been operational since February 2005. The 23,000 sq. ft. additional space more than doubled the size of the facility which was originally built in 1993. Approximately 18,000 sq. ft. of the new addition are dedicated to increased manufacturing space and the remaining 5,000 sq. ft. are devoted to additional administrative space. Trijicon’s expanded facilities mean increased production capabilities as well as additional staff.
